Through a selection of fanzines from the collections of the Fanzinothèque de Poitiers, this exhibition will explore the alternative narratives told by fanzines: an unofficial, self-published history, told by the fringes, by dissident voices or in a tradition of popular education, tracing the evolution of self-publishing as a political, artistic and social gesture.
It will also be an opportunity to examine the place of fanzines in contemporary creation, as a form of multiple work: reproducible, circulating, at the crossroads of art, document and manifesto. An invitation to discover a living memory, fragmentary and collective, that redraws history in a different way.
For the duration of the exhibition, we are offering fanzine design and production workshops at the Fabrique de Proximité(s). The programme includes folding, layout, cutting and pasting, drawings and, of course, photocopying!
To create your own zines, either you've already got an idea and you're coming with it? or you can take a look at some of the ideas below, or we'll come up with something together on the spot!
> History: a historical figure who inspires you / a key moment in history (uprisings, resistance movements, etc.)
> Musical collage: based on a song or a group
> Imaginary: a story about an imaginary or fantastic journey
> Your application to Morlaix town hall!
We've got plenty of magazines for you to cut out, but you can also bring your own or send us your images to print before the workshop.
